Name: Stephanie Thouvenel
Kids/Family: My husband Joseph and I have have two beautiful, extremely active children that we attempt (and often fail) to keep up with. Our son Tad is 2 and our daughter Hope is 5.
Favorite thing to do with my family: We have been LOVING the summer sun and love exploring new parks and discovering open spaces to roam free. We also adore playing board games together. Favorite kid board game these days: Zingo! Fun for the whole family, even our 2 year old.
Where I grew up: I grew up here in Newberg. I always knew it was a great community to grow up in, and I couldn't be happier that my husband I were able to return to Newberg last year and raise our children here.
Hobbies (what I enjoy doing when a have some time to myself): I really love good, healthy food so much of my "free" time revolves around cooking and preserving food for my family. I adore a good book, candles, super soft blankets, and my favorite way to ward of stress is to go for a run, alone. Running after/with children does not count!
What I enjoy most about MOPS: I love being involved in such a great community who understands and accepts where I am coming from. There is something so refreshing and honest about the MOPS community, as we share our joys, our heartaches, and our stories.
Why I joined Steering: Hospitality is really important to me. Before I had kids, hospitality meant creating a peaceful, pristine environment in my home for people to share a meal, rest, laugh, and feel at home. These days it means inviting people into the chaos of my life, listening to their story and sharing mine in return, despite the messiness. Being a part of steering has given me a chance to connect with an amazing group of women and is an opportunity to offer hospitality in all its shapes and forms, to fellow moms from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. I have been hugely blessed by being a part of steering.
What I am looking forward to this year with MOPS: I'm really looking forward to celebrating lavishly with you all this year. Celebrating the small things, the big things, the good things, and even the hard things.
